Millionaire Matchmaker – DVM edition

One great thing about my job is that it constantly presents me with an opportunity to go above and beyond for my clients. I recently became a matchmaker of sorts when a client had a dog that was not a good fit for her family.

Without going into specifics she needed to find the dog a new home for the safety of the family. The family was devastated but knew that ultimately this was the best option. The owner had mentioned that they would be open to another dog if they found the right match.

A few weeks later another one of our fabulous clients came in and mentioned that he knew someone that was moving away for her job and could not bring her dog (Bachelorette #1) with her. He said to let him know if anyone was looking for a great dog….ENTER THE MATCHMAKER.

I had him give me the phone number for his friend and we set up a time for her to bring “Bachelorette #1” to the clinic. After I did a thorough exam and evaluated her behavior the sparks began to fly. I knew she was the perfect fit for this family. I called my client, they met her and discovered it was a match made in heaven. Queue the cheesy 80’s game show music.

The human/animal bond that I witness on a daily basis is an amazing thing. I feel lucky everyday that I get to share in this very personal part of people’s lives and that is one of the many reasons that I love my job.
