The Reasons We Refer

Our first priority when treating your pet is to provide the highest standard of care and, in the event of an illness, ensure that we do everything that we can to have the best possible outcome. We make every effort to have the most current information and up to date skills in many areas of veterinary medicine.

However, board-certified specialists have much more extensive experience in particular areas of medicine or surgery and specialty clinics and universities have specialized equipment for certain procedures that are not routinely done by general practitioners.

If advanced training or equipment would be beneficial to your pet, we will make the decision to refer a patient to a specialist or a specialty clinic. There are many different types of specialists such as internists, surgeons, oncologists, cardiologists and ophthalmologists.

We view our relationship with the specialists as a partnership and we will work together with them to form the best treatment plan for your pet.
